According to this most interesting “fundamental fact,” which the anti-genetic worldview seeks in vain to silence, the creation of the different species is neither a supernatural miracle, nor can its primal origin be denied any longer on scientific grounds. — From Müller’s observation we can discern without any difficulty the natural conditions under which a parentless spontaneous generation was possible even in the highest organisms. The medium, in which such a higher germ formation arose and embryonically developed, was, according to Johannes Müller, neither the air, nor the water, nor the proverbial “primordial slime,” but rather an already existing, fully formed mother-animal, which, next to its usual reproductive organ, through which it perpetuated its own species by way of procreation, possessed another organ ad hoc, in which, by way of spontaneous generation, the sperm and eggs of a new, higher species formed alongside one another and developed embryonically into a mature fruit. All that is puzzling disappears with this assumption, which, according to the undeniable and undisputed observation of Müller, is more than a hypothesis.
The higher the creature stands on the ladder of organic creation, it was said, the more it requires for its embryonic development, as for its later advancement, the nurturing mother, the parental care; and how, it was asked, can a parentless spontaneous generation in the higher species even be considered without a miracle? — This riddle is solved. Not without parents, or rather foster parents, but indeed by way of spontaneous generation in the womb of such species that were physiologically closest to the higher ones, could, must these latter have entered into creation. — In order, for example, to apply this view at once to the highest organisms, to the world-historical human races, so stands today

223 Nach dieser höchst interessanten „fundamentalen Thatsache“, welche die antigenetische Weltanschauung vergebens todtzuschweigen sucht, ist die Schöpfung der verschiedenen Arten weder ein supematuralistisches Wunder, noch kann ihre Ursprünglichkeit aus wissenschaftlichen Gründen mehr geleugnet werden. — Aus der Müller’schen Beobachtung ersehen wir ohne alle Schwiengkeit die natürlichen Bedingungen, unter welchen auch bei den höchsten Organismen eine eltemlose Urzeugung möglich war. Das Medium, in welchem eine solche höhere Keimbildung entstand und sich embryonisch entwickelte, war, nach Johannes Müller, weder die Luft, noch das Waſſer, noch der berufene „Urschlamm“, sondem ein schon vorhandenes, ausgebildetes Mutterthier, welches neben seinem gewöhnlichen Geschlechtsorgan, durch das es auf dem Wege der Fortpflanzung seine eigne Art perpetuirte, ein andres Organ ad hoc besaß, in welchem sich auf dem Wege der spontanen Urzeugung Samen und Eier einer neuen, höhem Spezies neben einander bildeten und embryonisch zur reifen Frucht entwickelten. Alles Räthſelhafte verschwindet nach dieser Annahme, die nach der unbestreitbaren und unbestnttenen Müller’schen Beobachtung mehr als eine Hypothese ist. Je höher das Geschöpf auf der Stufenleiter der organischen Schöpfung steht, desto mehr, sagte man, bedarf es zu seiner embryonischen Entwicklung, wie zu seinem spätem Fortkommen, der nährenden Mutter, der elterlichen Pflege; und wie, fragte man, kann bei den höhem Arten an eine eltemlose Urzeugung ohne Wunder auch nur gedacht werden? — Dieses Räthſel ist gelöst. Nicht ohne Eltem oder vielmehr Pflegeeltem, wohl aber auf dem Wege der spontanen Urzeugung im Schooße solcher Arten, die den höhem physiologisch am Nächsten standen, konnten, mußten diese Letztem in die Schöpfung treten. — Um z. B. diese Ansicht sogleich auf die höchsten Organismen, auf die welthistonschen Menschenracen anzuwenden, so steht heute
