The anti-genetic, pagan worldview of eternal being does not like to look the question of becoming in the face; it avoids it wherever it possibly can. But modern science has, step by step, driven that worldview of eternal being from all of its positions.
The arising and passing away of the individual—and every temporal-spatial existence is an individual, limited one—confronts us so evidently in the organic sphere of life surrounding us that the pagan worldview saw itself compelled early on to take refuge in the pre-existence of germs or atoms.
In physiology, the pre-existence of germs has long been relegated to fairy tales. — Not only does the entire body of an organic individual arise from a germ, which is newly formed each time through an act of creation or procreation, but in every moment of its existence, every part of this body regenerates from germs, which are constantly being newly formed from a general germinal fluid, from the blood, through a creative act.
The excuse that germ formation, although it is a new formation each time, is still not an actual act of creation because a general germinal fluid pre-exists, shows, first of all, a complete misunderstanding of the process in organic formation, which is everywhere preceded by the opposite of life, its dissolution, actual death. — No combination without dissolution, no synthesis without analysis, as chemistry already teaches.
Germ formation is in fact, in the organic sphere of life, a process of organic chemistry, just as in the cosmic sphere atom formation is a process of inorganic chemistry, and as finally in the social, human, or spiritual sphere of life every new creation is also only a process of spiritual chemistry.
