were. — Not only in the realm of industry, but also in the scientific field, it is no easy task to counter the power of attraction of the speculative centers.
— Just as little is gained by the mere negation of speculative systems as by the mere destruction of existing capital; for all life has the natural and necessary tendency to centralize, unite, and organize itself.
— If the producers wish to free themselves from the domination of exploitative speculation, they must, as has already been successfully initiated by the workers in England, counter the mass of accumulated labor found in the hands of the industrial (in the minds of the philosophical) speculators with the greater mass of their own individual productions (the results of research in the scientific field), centralizing the latter in their own midst and setting it in motion from a common center of gravity, just as the products of labor are centralized and set in motion by the speculators.
— This applies to scientific materials just as much as to industrial ones.
— Materials are dead capital if they are not organized for further creations.

172 wurden. — Nicht nur im Bereiche der Industne, auch auf wissenschaftlichem Gebiete ist es keine leichte Aufgabe, der Attraktionskraft der spekulativen Centren die Spitze zu bieten. — Mit dem bloßen Regiren der spekulativen Systeme ist so wenig gewonnen, wie mit dem bloßen Zerstören der vorhandenen Kapitalien; denn alles Leben hat das natumothwendige Streben, sich zu centralisiren, zu vereinigen und zu organisiren. — Wollen die Produzenten sich von der Herrschaft der exploitirenden Spekulation befreien, so müssen sie, wie dies bereits von den Arbeitem in England mit Erfolg begonnen worden, der Masse der accumulirten Arbeit, die sich in den Händen der industnellen (in den Köpfen der philosophischen) Spekulanten befindet, die größere Masse ihrer vereinzelten Produktionen (Resultate der Forschung auf wissenschaftlichem Gebiete) entgegen stellen, dieselbe in ihrer eignen Mitte ebenso centralisiren und von einem gemeinsamen Schwerpunkte aus in Bewegung sehen, wie die von den Spekulanten centralisirten und in Bewegung gesetzten Arbeitsprodukte. — Dies gilt von den wissenschaftlichen Matenalien ebenso gut, wie von den industnellen. — Matenalien sind todte Kapitalien, wenn sie nicht zu weitem Schöpfungen organisirt werden. Dasselbe Gesetz der produktiven Lebensbewegung, aus dem sie, wie alle Matene hervorgegangen sind, dient auch zu weitem Schöpfungen aus dem Gewonnenen.
