which still exist today, were not original ones, then where they, as in western Asia, northern Africa, and Europe, have already lived together and intermingled for millennia, they would have long since produced such products, through both cross-breeding and climatic influences, in which no trace of their ancestors could be found. — But now all the human races and types of people that we know from antiquity through historical monuments, or that still live today in their original homeland and abroad, have, despite all climatic and cultural influences, reproduced themselves in their integrity in such a way that the expert can distinguish them at first glance by their physiological and psychological characteristics. The oldest Egyptian monuments already show us Negroes alongside Indo-Germans and Semites, thus races that, since time immemorial, have lived scattered, on the one hand, next to each other in the same country, and on the other, in the most diverse countries and climates, without their original type having changed.
The languages of those peoples from which our civilization has emerged belong to at least two primitive stocks, the Indo-Germanic and the Semitic. The ancient culture of the former culminated in Greece, as that of the Semites did in Judea.
