'This much is certain,' writes Penka, 'that both the dolmens of North Africa and the dolmens of Palestine and Spain were erected by peoples of the blond race.' Thus, he assumes that Aryan elements had advanced as far as the Egyptian Sudan in prehistoric times and erected the dolmens found there. --- --- --- "From the example of Egypt, we can learn that anthropology must form the basis of all political and cultural history. Curious questions arise, the answers to which are no longer distant from this standpoint of research: Were they blond and blue-eyed priests in whose minds the idea of pyramid building arose? Is it correct that the pyramids are nothing more than a further development of megalithic monuments?" In the second article (Bachmann, The Nordic Race and the Aborigines of the South Seas), it says: "The 'Caucasian race,' which Klemm characterized by lighter, colorless skin and a more developed forehead, has been resolved into two or three elements, and it has been shown that among them, it is especially the Nordic racial blood that is the active carrier of politics and culture, that this race originated in Europe and already spread to the south and east in ancient times, in short: that it represents the first and oldest cultural race. --- --- --- "Ujfalvy has shown that the Indians, Persians, and Scythians originally had the Nordic racial type. That the Romans, Greeks, Etruscans, and Gauls belonged to the same type, of this there can no longer be the slightest doubt today. Through the investigations of Maspero, Wiedemann, and Fnsch, the connections of the Nordic race to Egypt have been revealed, although most regarding its physiological influence on Egyptian culture still remains to be researched. 20 Überall finden wir in Begleitung dieser Steindenkmale, bis in die entfemtesten Gegenden, noch heute Reste einer blonden Bevölkerung. „So viel steht fest', schreibt Penka, „daß sowohl die Dolmen Nordafnkas, wie die Dolmen Palästinas und Spa- niens von Völkem der blonden Raſſe ernchtet worden ſind.' So nimmt er an, daß ansche Elemente in vorgeschichtlicher Zeit bis in den ägyptischen Sudan vorgedrungen ſeien und die dort vorhandenen Dolmen ernchtet haben. --- --- --- „An dem Beispiele Ägyptens können wir lemen, daß die Anthropologie die Grundlage aller politischen und kulturellen Geschichte bilden muß. Merkwürdige Fragen tauchen auf, deren Beantwortung von dieſem Standpunkte der Forschung aus nicht mehr fem liegt: Waren es blonde und blauäugige Pnester, in deren Gehim die Idee des Pyramidenbaues entsprang? Ist es nchtig, daß die Pyramiden nichts als eine Fortentwicklung megalithischer Denkmäler ſind?" In dem zweiten Artikel (Bachmann, die nordische Raſſe und die Enes der Südſee) heißt es: „Die ,kaukaſische Raſſe', welche Klemm durch hellere farbloſe Haut und entwickelteres Vorderhaupt charaktenſiert, ist in zwei oder drei Elemente aufgelöst worden und es hat ſich gezeigt, daß unter ihnen inſonderheit das nordische Raſſe blut es ist, das der aktive Träger der Politik und Kultur ist, daß dieſe Raſſe in Europa ihren Ursprung genommen und schon in ältesten Zeiten nach Süden und Osten ſich ausgebreitet hat, kurz: daß ſie die erste und älteste Kulturraſſe darstellt. --- --- --- „Ujfalvy hat nachgewieſen, daß die Inder, Perſer, Skythen ursprünglich den nordischen Raſſentypus gehabt haben. Daß die Römer, Gnechen, Etrusker, Gallier demſelben Typus angehör- ten, darüber kann heute nicht mehr der genngste Zweifel be- stehen. Durch die Unterſuchungen von Maspero, Wiedemann und Fnsch ſind die Beziehungen der nordischen Raſſe zu Ägypten aufgedeckt worden, wenn auch das meiste in Hinſicht ihres phyſiologischen Einfluſſes auf die ägyptische Kultur noch zu erforschen ist. Ich will hier nur erwähnen, daß Wilſer auf Grund der anthropologischen Merkmale der Mumie Ramſes des
