Wirth reported that in Japan, especially in the north of Nippon, he found astonishingly light skin and brown hair, occasionally turning reddish, and that two-thirds of the nobility and intelligentsia belong to the 'fine type.' While in these two articles we have had a condensed summary of the data, in the following we will endeavor to have the logical, systematic structure of the theory presented by its most qualified representatives, Wilser and Woltmann.

21 Großen diesen für ein Abkömmling der nordischen Rasse hält. Wenn die Ansicht von Dope und Wilſer nchtig ist, daß die Sumener des Zweistromlandes ‚Kaukasier‘, d. h. Nordländer oder Mischlinge aus der Kreuzung der nordischen und mittel- ländischen Raſſe geweſen ſind, dann find wir damit den ‚baby- lonischen Anem‘ Gobineaus auch näher gerückt. — — — „Die anthropologische Analyſe der Juden und Klein- aſiaten hat erwiesen, daß auch ihnen ein nicht gennger Teil blonder Raſſe beigemischt ist. — — — „Bälz und andere stellten in China und Japan einen groben, mongolischen und einen feineren Typus fest. Nach Poesche wurden die letzten Reste der Blonden, der ‚chineſischen Aner‘, im Hoangho-Tal gefunden, und daß die ‚bleichen Pferdegeſich- ter‘ schon in den ältesten Zeiten nach China gekommen find, bezeugen die chineſischen Annalen. Neuerdings hat A. Wirth benchtet, daß er in Japan, beſonders im Norden von Nippon, erstaunlich helle Haut und braune, gelegentlich ins Rötliche übergehende Haare gefunden habe, und daß zwei Dnttel des Adels und der Intelligenz dem ‚feinen Typus‘ angehören. „Ebenso findet ſich auch der Typus der Nordraſſe unter den Inkas, den Indianem Nordamenkas, den Bewohnem Javas, der Südſee, des malayischen Archipels. — — — „Durchmeſſen wir ſo in großen Schntten den Kreis der Völker und überdenken wir zum Schluß noch die aufklärenden Unterſuchungen Woltmanns über den Einfluß der Germanen auf die Kultur der romanischen Völker, ſo kann heute kein Zweifel mehr bestehen, daß die Theone von Klemm und Gobi- neau über die geistigen Unterschiede der Menschenraſſen und die Ueberlegenheit der anschen Familie in ihren weſentlichen Grundzügen nchtig ist und ſicher durch die fortschreitende Forschung immer mehr bestätigt werden wird.“ Hatten wir in diesen beiden Artikeln eine gedrängte Zu- ſammenfaſſung des Datenmatenals, ſo wollen wir im folgenden uns bemühen, den logischen, ſystematischen Aufbau der Theone durch ihre berufensten Vertreter Wilſer und Woltmann dar- legen zu laſſen.
