Laxity, which lets all things take their course, is no virtue. It is weakness that can neither hate nor love. — And faint-heartedness is almost as bad as wickedness.
To stake property and blood for the high goals of life: he who is not capable of this, let him not count himself among the able — not among those who bring honor to the name of his people!
He who is pure in his soul and well-meaning of heart, he shall be called my brother in peace. But an enemy to me is the worthless and the false; may he tremble before my wrath, for my struggle is tirelessly directed at him!
Only the good has a right to exist; but he who wants to make room for the good must ensure that malice does not spread rampantly.
Man is appointed steward of the earth; like a wise gardener, he should cultivate the flowers and fruits, but keep the pests away and root out the weeds.

— VII — Lässigkeit, die alle Dinge gewähren läßt, ist keine Tugend. Schwäche ist es, die weder hassen noch lieben kann. — Und Mattherzigkeit ist fast so schlimm wie Schlechtigkeit * * * * Gut und Blut einsetzen für hohe Ziele des Lebens: wer das nicht vermag, der zähle sich nicht zu den Tüchtigen — nicht zu denen, die dem Namen seines Volkes Ehre machen! * * * * Wer rein ist in seiner Seele und wohlmeinend von Herzen, der soll mir in Fneden ein Bruder heißen. Aber ein Feind ist mir der Nichtswürdige und Falsche; er möge vor meinem Zome zittem, denn unermüdlich gilt ihm mein Kampf! * * * * Nur das Gute hat ein Recht, zu sein; wer aber dem Guten Raum will schaffen, muß sorgen, daß sich die Tücke nicht wuchemd verbreite. * * * * Der Mensch ist zum Haushalter der Erde gesetzt; er soll wie ein kluger Gärtner die Blumen und Früchte pflegen, aber die Schädlinge femhalten und das Unkraut ausroden. * * * *
