"While all other religions seek to impart the metaphysical meaning of life to the people in images and parables, the Jewish religion is entirely immanent and provides nothing but a mere war cry in the fight against other peoples....
Incidentally, the impression that the study of the Septuagint [Greek translation of the Old Testament] has left on me is a heartfelt love and profound reverence for the great King Nebuchadnezzar, even if he proceeded somewhat too leniently with a people who kept for themselves a God who gave and promised them the lands of their neighbors, which they then took possession of through robbery and murder, and then built a temple for that God. May every people that keeps for itself a God who turns neighboring lands into "lands of promise" find its Nebuchadnezzar in time, and its Antiochus Epiphanes as well, and may it be dealt with without further ceremony!"

- 58 - Schopenhauer. „Während alle anderen Religionen die metaphysische Bedeutung des Lebens dem Volke in Bild und Gleichniß beizubnngen suchen, ist die JudenReligion ganz immanent und liefert nichts als ein bloßes Knegsgeschrei bei Bekämpfung anderer Völker…. Uebngens ist der Eindruck, den das Studium der Septuaginta [Gnechische Uebersetzung des Alten Testaments] bei mir nachgelassen hat, eine herzliche Liebe und innige Verehrung des großen Königs Nabuchodonosſar, wenn er auch etwas zu gelinde verfahren ist mit einem Volke, welches sich einen Gott hielt, der ihm die Länder seiner Nachbam schenkte und verhieß, in deren Besitz es sich dann durch Rauben und Morden setzte, und dann dem Gott einen Tempel dann baute. Möge jedes Volk, das sich einen Gott hält, der die Nachbarländer zu „Ländem der Verheißung“ macht, rechtzeitig seinen Nebukadnezar finden, und seinen Antiochos Epiphanes dazu, und weiter keine Umstände mit ihm gemacht werden!“ Schopenhauer, Parerga I, S. 136. „Der ewige Jude Ahasverus ist nichts Anderes, als die Personification des ganzen jüdischen Volkes….
