Aryan elements penetrated into China. The Chinese annals report that as late as the time around 300 A.D., a people of great stature with blond hair dwelled on the western borders of China.
It seemed necessary to me to preface with these brief suggestions about a view of the conditions of the ancient world that is increasingly being established on scientific knowledge, *) in order to counter the widely exaggerated opinion of the cultural significance of the Jewish tribe. At the time when the Scythians traversed half the world, toppling and founding empires, — at the time when the Egyptian and pre-Assyrian culture had already flourished to a high degree of development, nothing was yet known of the people of Judah.
The cultural beginnings of the ancient Egyptians and Babylonians extend several millennia before Christ, while the Jews have their patriarch Abraham appear only around 1800 before Christ.
The great Egyptian pyramids at Dahshur and Memphis were demonstrably built during the third dynasty, thus around 3300 years before Christ. The execution of such huge structures, however, required

Chr. ein Volk von großer Gestalt mit blonden Haaren an den Westgrenzen China’s geſeſſen habe. Es schien mir nöthig, dieſe kurzen Andeutungen über eine auf wiſſenschaftlicher Erkenntniß ſich immer mehr befestigende Auffaſſung der Verhältniſſe der alten Welt vorauszuschicken, *) um der vielfach übertnebenen Meinung von der culturellen Bedeutung des Judenstammes zu begegnen. Zu der Zeit, als die Scthyten die halbe Welt durchzogen, Reiche stürzten und gründeten, — zu der Zeit, als die ägyptische und voraſſynsche Cultur schon zu hoher Entwickelung gediehen war, wußte man noch nichts von dem Volke Juda. Die Cultur-Anfänge der alten Aegypter und Babylonier erstrecken ſich mehrere Jahrtauſende vor Chnstus zurück, während die Juden ihren Stammvater Abraham erst etwa um 1800 vor Chnstus auftreten laſſen. Die großen ägyptischen Pyramiden zu Dahschur und Memphis ſind erwieſenermaßen während der dntten Dynastie, alſo um 3300 Jahre vor Chnstus erbaut.
