Among the half a million Jews that Romania has and who live spatially crowded together in Moldavia, there are many on whose giant fortunes the ruin and the curse of 3, 8, 12 old Boyar families hang. This Jewry acquires its wealth by spreading like a swarm of bees over the country in order to seize all trade and commerce, by spying out the situation and habits of every owner and peasant and creating temptation, in order to save them from distress with usurious money, but then immediately plotting a new snare.
To the hundreds of rich Jews are added all the hundreds of thousands who today still possess nothing and who peddle and beg on the country roads and at the train stations, begging for 1 franc, for 5 pfennigs, for 1 piece of bread, for the rest of the rum that the traveler leaves in his little glass, for a handful of tobacco, for the burnt-out butt of the cigar.
And if out of the hundreds of thousands, ninety thousand remain wretched and poor and five thousand die in the penitentiary, three thousand are driven out of the country, — two thousand are rich people in ten years, and correspondingly many natives are wretched and Anti-Semite's Catechism. 10

Ihren Reichthum erwirbt ſich dieſe Judenschaft, indem ſie ſich wie ein Bienenschwarm über das Land verbreitet, um allen Handel und Verkehr an ſich zu reißen, indem ſie jedes Beſitzers und Bauem Lage und Gewohnheiten ausspäht und Verſuchung schafft, um mit Wuchergelde aus der Noth zu retten, alsbald aber wieder auf neuen Fallstnck ſinnt. Zu den Hunderten von reichen Juden geſellen ſich all' die Hunderttauſende hinzu, die heute noch nichts beſitzen und die auf den Landstraßen und an den Bahnhöfen hauſiren und betteln, betteln um 1 Franken, um 5 Pfennige, um 1 Stück Brod, um den Rest des Rums, den der Reiſende im Gläßchen stehen läßt, um eine Handvoll Tabak, um den verglühten Rest der Cigarre. Und wenn von den Hunderttauſenden neunzigtauſend elend bleiben und arm und fünftauſend im Zuchthauſe sterben, dreitauſend aus dem Lande gejagt werden, — zweitauſend find in zehn Jahren reiche Leute, und entsprechend viel Eingeborene ſind elend und Antiſemiten-Katechismus. 10
