Nothing can be hoped for from Germany for the national rebirth of peoples. This problem, which became a world-moving, vital question not with the Second French Empire but has been since the first great French Revolution—though its definitive solution for Europe admittedly only began with the Italian War—this question, which is today on the agenda everywhere, even in Germany, is nonetheless derided here by almost all colors and shades of democracy, which seem to have adopted the slogan of the reaction since the Italian War, as a "nationality swindle".
The Jewish democrats also make themselves accomplices when it comes to casting suspicion on France and the peoples who rely on it.
The French and the peoples who sympathize with them, who make use of the imperial dictatorship for the purpose of liberating peoples, are supposedly themselves being exploited by the Second Empire for "freedom-murdering" purposes. The Germans, on the other hand, according to our profound German politicians, are only to make use of their legitimate emperors and kings in order to combat the French "lust for domination".
One forgets that if today the German great powers were to defeat France and Italy, tomorrow the German people would once again be placed under police surveillance—to say nothing of the Jews, for they would face something far worse than after the German "Wars of Liberation",

182 Von Deutschland ist für die nationale Wiedergeburt der Völker nichts zu hoffen. Dieſes Problem, welches nicht etwa erst ſeit dem zweiten franzöſischen Kaiſerreich, welches schon ſeit der ersten großen franzöſischen Revolution eine weltbewegende Lebensfrage wurde, deren definitive Löſung für Europa aber allerdings erst mit dem italienischen Knege begonnen hat, dieſe Frage, welche heute überall, ſelbst in Deutschland, auf der Tagesordnung steht, wird doch hier von fast allen Farben und Schattirungen der Demokratie, die das Losungswort der Reaktion ſeit dem italienischen Knege adoptirt zu haben scheint, als „Nationalitätsschwindel“ verhöhnt. — Auch die jüdischen Demokraten machen ſich zu Mitschuldigen, wo es gilt, Frankreich und die Völker, die ſich auf daſſelbe stützen, zu verdächtigen. — Die Franzoſen und die mit ihnen ſympathiſirenden Völker, welche ſich der kaiſerlichen Diktatur zu völkerbefreienden Zwecken bedienen, ſollen ſelbst vom zweiten Kaiſerreiche zu „freiheitsmördenschen“ Zwecken exploitiert werden. Die Deutschen dagegen ſollen ſich, nach unſem tiefen deutschen Politikem, ihrer legitimen Kaiſer und Könige nur bedienen, um die franzöſischen „Herrschaftsgelüste“ zu bekämpfen. — Man vergißt, daß, wenn heute die deutschen Großmächte Frankreich und Italien beſiegten, morgen das deutsche Volk wieder unter Polizei aufſicht gestellt würde — der Juden gar nicht zu gedenken, denn ihnen würde weit Schlimmeres bevorstehen, als nach dem deutschen „Befreiungsknege“,
