ty against "the Jews," if they do me no personal harm, and even then, of course, only against personal enemies. That I, like countless other writers and other people, have to suffer from the Judaization of my profession, lies in the nature of things. It is like in war. How can I personally hate the soldier whose bullet hits me? — Does one not, wounded, still extend one's hand to him as the vanquished or as a prisoner of war? And should we be more barbaric than the soldier in war?
In my eyes, it is an honest war that has been waged for 1800 years. On both sides, we just did not want to admit it to ourselves, because on both sides we were — doctrinaires and never grasped the struggle in its cultural-historical entirety.
The Jew — I speak here in general terms — has quite excellent qualities among his own kind. For one, his family life — more intimate than one finds among other peoples. He can be good and amiable towards us — outwardly. That in his inner nature lives the consciousness of being the "people par excellence," that he hates us, or sees in us only people to be exploited, lies in his tribal nature and in his ancient history. That after the reception he was given in the Occident, he is not enthusiastic about us, is natural.
He did not want to or could not assimilate into us; he therefore had to fight with us; after his decisive first great victory of 1848, he had to pursue this victory further and — whether he wants to or not — he must today strive to ruin the Germanic, or rather, the Occidental world. This, the corrosive mission of Judaism (which it already had in antiquity), will only meet a counter-thrust when it has reached its highest peak, i.e., when Jewish Caesarism will be installed.
From where will this counter-thrust come?
Certainly not from Germandom, for it lies in its death throes.
Perhaps — but only very perhaps! — the Slavic peoples will then step to the forefront of the stage of the great "tragicomedy" of world history.
