434 characters in the best sense of the word, profound thinkers, from whom so often a recasting of all spiritual, ethical, and reli- gious values, a revolutionizing and renewal of all intellectual life has originated. It is a perhaps no longer remediable harm that, due to the overgrowth of superficiality and false intellectualism, it is precisely the nobler elements that have withdrawn into themselves and not come to the fore. The nobler a soul is, the more proudly it knows how to conceal itself, the less it wants to show itself on command, the more it shuns competition in the open market with an educated mob. Today, too, one only knows the ambitious and conceited, the mediocre and the pushy Jews, and one judges all of Judaism by them! The grossly deceptive picture that thus had to arise from the social structure of Diaspora Jewry led to the Jew being presented, quite generally, as the antitype of higher humanity. But that such elements are present today in superabundant measure is proof of what damage the dissociation of Jewry has as a consequence! However, we do not want to lose ourselves in a fog of phrases and subtle sophistries, but rather, to prove our assertion that the cultural value of the race becomes illusory through its present dissociation, we will again turn to more coarse-grained natural and social-scientific argumentation.

434 raktere im besten Sinne des Wortes, tiefgründige Denker, von denen ſo oft eine Umgießung aller geistigen, ethischen und reli- giöſen Werte, eine Revolutionierung und Emeuerung des gan- zen Geisteslebens ausgegangen ist. Es ist ein vielleicht gar nicht mehr heilbarer Schaden, daß wegen des Überwuchems der Oberflächlichkeit und des falschen Geistcich-Tuns gerade die edleren Elemente ſich auf ſich ſelbst zurückzogen und nicht zur Geltung kamen. Je adeliger eine Seele ist, desto stolzer weiß ſie ſich zu verbergen, desto weniger will ſie ſich auf Kommando zeigen, desto mehr scheut ſie den Wettbewerb auf offenem Markte mit einem Bildungspöbel. Man kennt auch heute nur die streber- und dünkelhaften, die mittelmäßigen und die vor- dnnglichen Juden, und man beurteilt das ganze Judentum nach ihnen! Das grob täuschende Bild, das ſo durch die ſoziale Struktur der Diasporajudenheit entstehen mußte, führte dazu, den Juden geradezu generell für den Antitypus des hö- heren Menschentums auszugeben. Daß aber ſolche Elemente in überreichem Maße heute vorhanden ſind, ist ein Beweis dafür, welchen Schaden die Dissoziation der Judenheit zur Folge hat! Doch wir wollen uns nicht in einen Nebel von Phraſen und ſubtiler Klügeleien verlieren, ſondem wollen uns zum Beweise unſerer Behauptung, daß der Kulturwert der Raſſe durch ihre gegenwärtige Disſoziation illuſonsch wird, wieder grobkömigerer natur- und ſozialwiſſenschaftlicher Argumen- tation zuwenden. * * * In der ökonomischen Geschichte des Ju- dentums spielen großartige Depoſſessie- rungsprozeſſe eine entscheidende Rolle: Während und nach der Vemichtung der Selbständigkeit die Verdrängung von der Urproduktion, zur Zeit der Kreuz- züge die Abdrängung vom Großhandel,* und in der Gegenwart vollzieht ſich ſichtbar vor unſeren Augen die Eliminierung * Siehe S. 354 ff.
