Before I close the preface, I fulfill a pleasant duty in expressing my special thanks to all those who were helpful to me in any way in the publication of the work. Notably to Professor Ehrmann in Vienna, upon whose encouragement the plan to present my theories to the public in this book first took on a more definite form.

X Um die Benützung des Buches zu erleichtem, habe ich dieser Auflage ein gegliedertes Inhaltsverzeichnis sowie einen Index beigegeben. Bevor ich das Vorwort schließe, genüge ich noch einer an- genehmen Pflicht, wenn ich allen denen, die mir zum Erscheinen des Werkes in irgend einer Art behilflich waren, meinen beſon- deren Dank ausspreche. Namentlich Herm Universitätsprofessor Ehrmann in Wien, auf deſſen Ermutigung hin erst der Plan, meine Theonen in diesem Buche der Öffentlichkeit zu übergeben, festere Gestalt angenommen hat.
