57 is said to have inhabited the southern and eastern coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. Even today, this long chain of blonds could be demonstrated, which one finds among the former Guanches on the Canary Islands, among the Riffians in Morocco, the Algerian Kabyles, Libyans, and finally in present-day Syria and Palestine.
Quite different from these Amorites was the race of the Chettites or Hittites. The anthropological type of this race is a very peculiar one, a distinctly short-headed skull, dark eyes and hair, a yellowish or brownish complexion, small stature. The Chettites have a great affinity with today's Armenians, which is why Luschan also described them as the “Armenoid type.”
As a final racial stock, the Cushites are to be designated, Negroid elements whose characteristics still persist today in the curly hair and the full lips of some Jews as atavisms.
Judt now proves, with the help of numerous historical testimonies, that these races intermingled with one another in the period up to 500 B.C.
The conclusions which the author drew from his investigations are as follows:
The Jews as a physical race are a product of the amalgamation that took place not in Europe, but in the distant times of the primary migrations and the political independence of the Hebrews.
The Jew of the present day forms a highly uniform type, without regard to the geographical milieu and the racial characteristics of the natives.
The physically uniform overall characteristics of the Jewish race are supplemented by its physiognomic uniformity. This it undoubtedly owes to the Chettite race, which strongly predominates in number and also in the characteristics of the mixed offspring. The physical core of the Jews is therefore formed by the Hittite race, which impressed upon them the characteristic basic features of their physical and mental traits even in the most ancient times.

Noch heute ließe ſich dieſe lange Kette von Blonden nachweiſen, welche man unter den früheren Guan- cia auf den Kananschen Inſeln, unter den Ryffiſen in Marokko, den algenschen Kabylen, Lybiem und schließlich im jetzigen Synen und Palästina findet. Ganz verschieden von dieſen Amonten ſei die Raſſe der Chetitäer oder Hethiter geweſen. Der anthropologische Typus dieſer Raſſe ist ein ganz eigenartiger, deutlich kurzköpfiger Schädel, dunkle Augen und Haare, gelblicher oder bräunlicher Teint, kleine Statur. Die Chettiter haben große Verwandt- schaft mit den heutigen Armeniem, weshalb ſie Luschan auch als „armenoiden Typus“ bezeichnet hat. Als letzter Raſſenschlag ſeien die Kuschiten zu bezeich- nen, negerartige Elemente, deren Eigenschaften heute noch in den krauſen Haaren und den wulstigen Lippen mancher Juden als Ataviſmen fortwirken. Judt weist nun an der Hand zahlreicher histonscher Zeug- niſſe nach, daß dieſe Raſſen ſich in dem Zeitraum bis 500 v. Chr. miteinander vermischt haben. Die Schlußfolgerungen, welche der Autor aus ſeinen Unter- ſuchungen zog, ſind folgende: Die Juden als phyſische Raſſe ſind ein Produkt der nicht in Europa, ſondem in den femen Zeiten der pnmären Wan- derungen und der politischen Selbständigkeit der Hebräer statt- gefundenen Amalgamierung. Der Jude der Gegenwart bildet einen in hohem Grade ein- heitlichen Typus, ohne Rückſicht auf das geographische Milieu und die Raſſenmerkmale der Eingeborenen. Die phyſisch einheitlichen Geſamtmerkmale der jüdischen Raſſe werden ergänzt durch ihre phyſiognomische Einheitlich- keit. Dieſe verdanke ſie unzweifelhaft der chettitischen Raſſe, welche der Zahl nach und auch in den Eigenschaften der Misch- linge stark überwiegt. Den phyſischen Kem der Juden bildet demnach die Hethiter-Raſſe, welche ihnen die charakenstischen Grundzüge ihrer körperlichen und geistigen Merkmale schon in den ältesten Zeiten aufgedrückt hat.
