development millennia ago (Babylonians, Egyptians, Jews), that they created the classical (Greeks and Romans) and post-classical culture (Italians, Byzantines, Moors). Here one could ask: But what is the purpose of this determination of what has been? Now those others are at the forefront of civilization, so they are the best today! That is not so. The determination of a race's past is very important. For the race researchers say: Every race has its specific characteristics, which are innate to it from time immemorial and inalienably adhere to it. From time immemorial, the Germanic peoples were the born bearers of culture, free, loyal, and active, and from time immemorial, the Semites have been barren, passive, and ignoble. And this ancestral racial soul can never change! And that is precisely why it is important to pin down that we Jews are demonstrably an ancient mixture of melanochroic peoples, that the ancestors and the closest relatives of our race were the original creators of all human culture. And that we are heirs to their blood and their spirit.
It still remains to be determined: First, whether the Jews of today represent a uniform type and are the genuine, unmixed descendants of the ancient Jewish people, i.e., whether the Jews have preserved their racial purity in the Diaspora; second, whether the same is also true for the Germanic peoples of today. One is accustomed to distinguishing two large groups in Judaism: the northern-dwelling Jews, called Ashkenazim, and the Spaniols or Sephardim. Unobjectionable investigations have proven that even the outdated criteria of distinction show no noteworthy anthropological differences between these two groups. The skull measurements, as well as the percentage of blond and light-eyed individuals (20-30%), completely correspond, as does the physiognomic type. Hier könnte man fragen: Wozu aber dieſe Feststellung des Geweſenen? Jetzt ſind doch jene an der Spitze der Zivilisation, alſo ſind ſie heute die Besten! Dem ist nicht ſo. Die Feststellung der Raſſenvergangen- heit ist ſehr wichtig. Denn die Raſſenforscher ſagen: Jede Raſſe hat ihre spezifischen Eigenschaften, die ihr ſeit jeher angeboren ſind und ihr unveräußerlich an- haften. Seit jeher waren die Germanen die geborenen Kulturträger, frei, treu und thätig, und ſeit jeher ſind die Semiten unfruchtbar, paſſiv und unedel geweſen. Und nie kann ſich dieſe angestammte Raſſenſeele ändem! Und eben deswegen ist es wichtig, festzu nageln, dass wir Juden erwiesenermaßen eine uralte Mischung melanochroer Völker darstellen, dass die Ahnen und die engsten Verwandten unſerer Raſſe die Urschöpfer aller menschlichen Kultur waren. Und dass wir ihres Blutes und ihres Geistes Erben ſind. * * * Noch bleibt zu ermitteln: Erstens, ob die heutigen Juden einen einheitlichen Typus darstellen und die echten, unvermischten Nachkommen des alten Judenvolkes ſind, d. h., ob die Juden ſich ihre Raſſenreinheit in der Diaspora bewahrt haben; zweitens, ob daſſelbe auch für die heutigen Germanen zutnfft. Man ist gewohnt, zwei grosse Gruppen im Judentum zu unterscheiden: die nördlich wohnenden Juden, Aschkenaſim genannt, und die Spaniolen oder Sephardim. Einwandfreie Unterſuchungen haben bewiesen, dass auch die veralteten Unterscheidungs-kntenen keine bemerkenswerten anthro- pologischen Verschiedenheiten zwischen dieſen beiden Grup- pen ergeben. Die Schädelmaſſe, ſowie der Prozenſatz der Blonden und Helläugigen (20—30%) stimmen vollkommen überein, ebenſo auch der phyſiognomische Typus.
