to be a "lesharegetz." And if you cannot, I have no advice for you; go in peace and be a "provi-oynetz." Poor fellow.

Why, in fact, do we need our national sport? I know, and my youth passed me by and I never even dreamed that days like these would come, but if I were to become young again, I would first and foremost sit and investigate why we need our sport. What must be the size of the boat that will allow me and another dozen choice lads to make this leap? Are 50 tons specifically necessary? And perhaps 30 will suffice? For example, in Rhodes, 40 years ago, they brought types of ships and boats that would carry thousands of people and all sorts of good things from the Aegean islands, and they were only a few dozen tons in capacity. – Today, this is how one must be a sailor, and such a boat also costs money, but then I would begin to learn, together with the other lads, the art of seafaring; and I would begin to collect pennies, together with another dozen lads, in order to buy an old boat. – It is true that the boat can only be bought somewhere on the seashore, and I myself could be from Brisk or from Lutsk; but when there is a will, the way is found.

And what would be the outcome of the attack? Who knows? Perhaps victory; perhaps defeat. Is that a concern, either?

D. There is a need to distinguish clearly between the two methods of the Jewish revival movement: the political method and the practical method.

The more political answer: This is the eternal inheritance that Herzl left us. His doctrine says: in order to create a Jewish state, the official sanction of the political process is first necessary; only then can true settlement take place, a process that leads to a Jewish majority and a Jewish government. Without political principles – there is no "settlement," only something that almost resembles settlement, but in a foreign tongue they call it "colonization."
