The Jewish majority in the Land of Israel. – And as a natural result of the majority – the transformation of the Land of Israel into a Jewish state are, according to this perception, only the first necessary stages of historical Zionism. If, tomorrow, another 800,000 Jews were to come to the Land of Israel on eagles' wings, by way of a miracle, a Jewish majority would then be created, and it would already be possible to pose, in theory, the question of the necessity of a Jewish community – but it is absolutely clear that at that very moment, several more million Jews from various countries would demand the right of entry to this community, and it turns out that Zionism goes much deeper and further, even than the creation of a Jewish state; and not because we are subjectively so voracious, but because such is the force of circumstances.

I will note, by the way, that this historical perception is no less nationalistic than the first one. It is to be assumed that life in an atmosphere of independent struggles will slowly heal the Jewish generations of all the crookedness in body and spirit caused to us by the Diaspora, and will gradually forge the "liberated" type! Behold. This perception we call "Great Zionism," or even "Hegemonic Zionism," it seems to me – a foundational principle unto itself.

8. The Settlement and the Regime

The ship "Ruslan" – the first vessel that brought pioneers to the Land of Israel, arrived from Odessa to Jaffa in the year 5679 /1919/. I will try to explain briefly what the Jews have succeeded in building in the Land of Israel since then, during these 17 years; I will try to shed light both on the achievements and on the shortcomings.

But first of all, we will need an introduction here: about the great role played in the settlement – by the authorities, and the political regime in general.
