I wish to mention the great transportation arteries of the future. If they were to show us a region in Eretz Yisrael or a city located at the crossroads of the main railway and the Asiatic shipping route, every one of us would say: "This region, or this city, is destined to bring about the greatest and most extraordinary sustenance for a population." This is what we claim regarding that entire corner of the Mediterranean. There is no doubt whatsoever that after a few generations, with the development of Asia, and I do not mean Asia Minor alone, but all the great territories of Asia more or less between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea/and with the development of Africa, this corner is destined to be populated with an extremely dense population. An area the size of Eretz Yisrael, and populated with a fairly high density, like Wales, will be able to contain 8,000,000 inhabitants; with a population density like that of Sicily, the settlement will reach 12,000,000. And if the population density were to be like that of England itself, or of Belgium, which is of course higher than usual, there would be room for 18,000,000. I cannot point a finger at one of these numbers and prophesize which one we will reach in Eretz Yisrael. However, since in Eretz Yisrael on both sides of the Jordan there is today a population of approximately 1,600,000 souls, the possibilities are very great, and the Zionist danger is, that under a suitable political arrangement, there will be room in Eretz Yisrael for the 1,000,000 Arabs who reside there today, for the million of their descendants in the future, and all the millions of Poles and Jews and in addition to all these—for peace. And this is our assessment. We demand this territory, and I believe that what has been said above is sufficient to completely dispel any fear that someone among us, from any party whatsoever, is thinking of the removal of the non-Jewish population currently residing in the land, or of border expropriation.

- 14 - לארדילאידה ולברוםביר, וכן הוא עורק היום מזרקי התחבורה האדירים ממקום הנמצאים לעתיד לבוא. אילו הראו לנו באיזור א"י או עיר הרי היה כל אחד אומר: "איזור זה, או עיר זו" -המפרנות הראשית, גדולה ביותר ויוצאה מן הכלל". זהו מה שאנו צריכים לגבר תיכון. אין אף על פי ספק בדבר, שלאחר דורות אחדים, עם התפתחותה של אסיה, ואינו נמוך לאסיה הקטנה בלבד, אלא לכל שטחי אסיה המשתרעים במדה פחות או יותר בין התיכון ובים האדום/ ועם התפתחותה של אפריקה, עתידה פונה זו להיות מאוכלסת בצפיפות צפופה ביוחר. שטח כשטח של א"י ומאוכלס בצפיפות גדולה למדי, דוגמת וולס, יפסל נוכל להכיל 8.000.000 תושבים; בצפיפות אוכלוסיה כמו של פולין יגיע הישוב עד 12.000.000. ואם הצפיפות של האוכלוסיה תהא כמו של אנגליה גופה, אז אז נוכל בקלות, שהיא כמובן %91 מגדל הרגיל, יהיה שם מקום ל-18.000.000. אינו יכול להוות באצבע על מספר מן המספרים הללו ולהתנבא לאיזה מהם נגיע בא"י. אולם הואיל ובא"י משני עברי-הירדן מצוין ישוב של 1.600.000 נפש בערך, הרי התפתחותה גדולה מאד, והסכנה העיקרית היא, שבנאום של מספר פוליטי מתאים יהא בא"י מקום ל-1.000.000 הערבים היושבים בה כיום, מלבדן כל צאצאיהם בעתיד, וכל המיליונים מן הפולנים והנודדים ונוסף על כל אלה – לשלום. וזהו הערכותנו. אנו חובטים שטח זה, וסבורני שדברים שנאמרו למעלה כדי לבטל לחלוטין כל חשש, ממי שהיא מתוכנו, מאיזו מפלגה שהיא, חושב על הרחבתו של הישוב הלא-יהודי היושב כיום בארץ או על הפך-גבול. /מתוך הועדה המלכותית בשנת 1937.
