2. The International Agreement

The goal of a clarification based on the principle of discipline. Our goal is /from now on/ to create a power-emitting organism, which will be able, upon a signal from the center, to perform at that same moment with all its tens of thousands of hands the same act in all the cities and countries, from the kindergartens to the clubs. In this, it is not "for the honor of secret men," and if the meaning of the matter is "to become a danger," we propose not to be ashamed to reply, but rather with pride: – Yes, a danger.

For the supreme achievement of a multitude of free people is the ability to act together and as one under the absolute dictatorship of "danger"; only free and highly cultured human beings are capable of this. When tens of thousands of "Sokols" march in a square, and at a signal given to them by their commander they execute the same movement at the same moment, every observer feels that in such a movement is reflected the self-defense of a free people and also culture of the highest degree. When we listen to a choir and an orchestra, watching a hundred participants meticulously follow a single movement in their actions, it gives us the impression of absolute unity; this is a sign that each of them has dedicated their greatest efforts to achieve such a result. It is not victory that compelled them to this, but rather a mature person, when he himself strives for unity. It is an "orchestra" such as this that we wish to create within the Jewish framework; and the first step toward this is in his hands. No one forces any young man to enter the clarification, no one forces him to remain in it; his free will is the foundation of the blessing, for the most beautiful virtue of a human multitude is precisely this talent, to bring their own personalities into harmony with the personalities of others for a common purpose, in the alignment of a general movement with the movements of all fellow members. In this very thing lies the entire concept of "humanity," in its deepest and most delicate sense: Unity. And when Israel, when the Jewish people learns to act together and as one, and specifically "in danger," and when all of humanity learns this art, the redemption of the world will come, turning all the conflicting parts into one world-family.
