much in other areas as well, especially if a civil registry of the entire Israelite nation is established at the same time, and with the same intent as the creation of the Jewish Republic.

Outside the territories of the Allied countries and the countries conquered or attacked by the enemy, there are today over ten million Jews. These are organized. The main thing is, one can say this without fear—to express it in some way, in order to help overcome the dangerous enemy. A potential of 1,200,000—among these Jews are men of military age* between eighteen and thirty-five years, of which a special portion is guaranteed in the Jewish world. That is Eretz-Israel; the Jewish men of military age*, living in the country, can themselves supply 100,000 soldiers, a large part of whom will not only receive military training, but have also been experienced in war-management according to one of the experimental tactics that have not yet gone out of use in the Middle East. These are potential sources of power that it would be unwise to disregard, and to cast them aside for mysterious reasons alone; and besides this, one must also consider their value as a moral factor in the war.

Indeed, an opinion exists, prevalent here and there (these words were written in February 1940, and it is possible that the situation in this regard will already be completely different when the book sees light), that the number of soldiers has no value in the type of war that the Allies are facing. A short time ago, a comment was delivered from circles very enthusiastic about this idea; and the comment was delivered jokingly: "If the fortunes from the neutral countries bring us to this point, and we find ourselves in a terrible confusion: for where shall we find a pre-war environment on the Western Front?" But if we cease joking, and we will need to understand, that is, if the war that was destined to develop from here from the types in the western direction to the true east; then it will have to go according to a completely different line of development. Indeed, this is only a pragmatic necessity; it is also a moral necessity, whose value is much greater still. The neutral countries (even now they include three-quarters of the enlightened human world) are slowly ceasing to be directly interested in the news and facts coming from the states. The daily balance of events at sea and in the air, even if it is great in its quality, is lacking: it negates that magnitude of the hundreds of types, without which this war is not...
