They lie on beds of ivory and stretch themselves out on their couches. They eat fat lambs from the flock, and young calves from the herd ... They drink wine from bowls and anoint themselves with the best oil—but they do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph. Amos 6:4/6.
Hear this, you who trample on the needy and bring the poor of the land to an end, thinking: When will the new moon be over, that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath, that we may open the corn, that we may make the ephah (a measure) small, the shekel great and falsify the scales by deceit, that we may buy the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the refuse of the corn. Vengefulness and Cruelty
But Elijah commanded them: Seize the prophets of Baal! Let not one of them escape! So they seized them, and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and slaughtered (!) them there. 1 Kings 18:40.
Joab asked Amasa: Is it well with you, my brother? At the same time Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him (!). But Amasa had not noticed the sword that Joab held in his hand, and so he thrust it into his belly, so that he poured out his bowels on the ground and died, without his having given him a second blow. 2 Sam. 20:9/10.
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was going up the way, small boys came out of the city and mocked him with the cry: Go up, you baldhead! But he turned around; and when he saw them, he cursed them in the name of Yahweh (!). Then two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two (!!) of the children to pieces. 2 Kings 2: 23/24.
Now when the time drew near that David should die, he commanded his son Solomon: ... Furthermore, you have with you Shimei, the son of Gera, who cursed me in the worst way at the time when I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by Yahweh: I will not have you put to death! But you shall not let him go unpunished; for you are a wise man and will know what you must do to him, that you bring his gray head down to the underworld with blood (!). 1 Kings 2: 1-9
Cursed be he who does the work of Yahweh with slackness, and cursed be he who withholds his sword from blood. Jer. 48:10.
May his (the enemy's) days be few, may another receive his office. His children must become orphans and his wife a widow. His children must wander about everywhere and beg, must be driven from their ruins. May the usurer lay snares for all his possessions, and may strangers plunder what he has laboriously acquired. May he have no one to show him favor, and may there be none to show his orphans mercy (!). May his posterity be doomed to extinction; in the next generation may their name be blotted out. Ps. 109:8-13.
Happy shall he be who takes your (the city of Babel's) little ones and dashes them against the rock (!!). Ps. 137:9.

Sie liegen auf Lagern von Elfenbein und räkeln sich auf ihrem Diwan. Sie verzehren fette Lämmer, die von der Herde, und junge Rinder, die aus der Herde kommen ... Sie trinken den Wein aus Sprengschalen und versalben das beste Öl - aber um den Schaden Josephs grämen sie sich nicht. Am. 6, 4/6. Hört dieses, die ihr den Dürftigen nachstellt und die Notleidenden im Lande zugrunde richtet, indem ihr denkt: Wann geht der Neumond vorüber, daß wir Getreide verhandeln können, und wann der Sabbat, daß wir Korn auftun, daß wir das Epha (ein Maß) verkleinern, das Gewicht vergrößern und betrügerisch die Waage fälschen, daß wir für Geld die Geringen kaufen und die Dürftigen um eines Paares Schuhe willen und den Abfall vom Korn verhandeln. Am. 8, 4/6. Rachsucht und Grausamkeit Elia aber gebot ihnen: Greift die Propheten Baals! Laßt keinen von ihnen entrinnen! Da griff man sie, und Elia führte sie hinab an den Bach Kison und schlachtete (!) sie daselbst. 1. Kön. 18, 40. Joab fragte den Amasa: Geht es dir gut, mein Bruder? Dabei faßte Joab Amasa mit der rechten Hand am Bart, um ihn zu küssen (!). Amasa aber hatte das Schwert nicht beachtet, das Joab in der Hand hielt, und so stieß er es ihm in den Leib, daß er seine Eingeweide zur Erde schüttete und starb, ohne daß er ihm einen zweiten Stoß gegeben hatte. 2. Sam. 20, 9/10. Von dort ging Elisa hinauf nach Bethel. Als er nun den Weg hinaufging, kamen kleine Knaben aus der Stadt heraus und verspotteten ihn mit dem Zuruf: Komm herauf, Kahlkopf! Er aber wandte sich um; und als er sie sah, fluchte er ihnen im Namen Jahwes (!). Da kamen zwei Bärinnen aus dem Wald und zerrissen zweiundvierzig( !! ) von den Kindern. 2. Kön. 2, 23/24. Als nun die Zeit herankam, daß David sterben sollte, gebot er seinem Sohne Salomo: ... Ferner hast du bei dir Shmel, den Sohn Geras, der hat mir in schlimmster Weise geflucht damals, als ich nach Mahenaim ging. Als er mir aber doch an den Jordan hinunter entgegenkam, schwur ich ihm bei Jahwe: Ich werde dich nicht hinrichten lassen! Du aber laß ihn nicht ungestraft; denn du bist ein weiser Mann und wirst wissen, was du ihm tun mußt, daß du seine grauen Haare mit Blut hinunter in die Unterwelt kommen lassest (!). 1. Kön. 2, 1-9 Verflucht sei, wer das Werk Jahwes mit Lässigkeit ausführt, und verflucht, wer seinem Schwert das Blut mißgönnt. Jer. 48, 10. Seiner (des Feindes) Lebenstage seien wenige, sein Amt empfange ein anderer. Seine Kinder müssen zu Waisen werden und sein Weib eine Witwe. Seine Kinder müssen überall umherschweifen und betteln, müssen fortgetrieben werden aus ihren Ruinen. Der Wucherer lege aller seiner Habe Schlingen, und Fremde mögen plündern, was er mühsam erworben hat. Er habe niemanden, der ihm Huld erweist, und niemand sei, der sich seiner Waisen erbarmt (!). Seine Nachkommenschaft müsse der Ausrottung verfallen; im nächsten Geschlecht erlösche ihr Name. PS. 109, 8-13. Wohl dem, der deine (der Stadt Babel) zarten Kinder packt und zerschmettert an den Felsen ( !! ). PS. 137, 9. - 74 -
