17) But surely there are decent Jews too?
That may be. But then, the fact that this is so often emphasized already contains the confession that the Jew in general is not decent, and, as is well known, the exception only proves the rule. Moreover, every Jew naturally takes pains to play the decent one, yes, the selfless and magnanimous one, in order to thereby gain trust and — to abuse this quite badly on occasion.
One should always wait for the end before praising a Jew as good and noble. In recent years we have repeatedly experienced that "respected" Jews, who for years and decades enjoyed the most general trust, held honorary offices of all kinds, etc. — suddenly turned out to be great swindlers. We need only recall the Bernstein brothers in Königsberg, Pauls in Eberswalde, Wolf and Sommerfeld in Berlin, and similar cases.
18) Are there not also bad Christians?
Scabby sheep are found in every large flock, and so there are also always some failed and depraved individuals among the non-Jewish or Aryan peoples. In the German people, however, thank God, the situation is still such that the scoundrel is the exception, but the righteous man is the rule.

- 25 - 17) Aber es giebt doch auch anständige Juden? Es mag sein. Aber dann, daß man diese Thatsache so oft betont, liegt schon das Geständniß, daß der Jude im Allgemeinen nicht anständig ist, und durch die Ausnahme wird bekanntlich die Regel nur bestätigt. Im übngen giebt ſich jeder Jude naturgemäß Mühe, den Anständigen, ja den Selbstloſen und Großmüthigen zu spielen, um dadurch Vertrauen zu gewinnen und — dieſes gelegentlich recht arg zu mißbrauchen. Man warte immer das Ende ab, ehe man einen Juden für gut und edel anpreist. Wir haben in den letzten Jahren wiederholt erlebt, daß „angeſehene“ Juden, die Jahre und Jahrzehnte hindurch das allgemeinste Vertrauen genoſſen, Ehren-Aemter aller Art bekleideten u. ſ. w. — ſich plötzlich als große Gauner entpuppten. Wir ennnem nur an Gebrüder Bemstein in Königsberg, Paulſ in Eberswalde, Wolf und Sommerfeld in Berlin und ähnliche Fälle. 18) Giebt es nicht auch schlechte Chnsten? Räudige Schaafe kommen in jeder größeren Herde vor, und ſo giebt es auch unter den nicht-jüdischen oder anschen Völkem immer einzelne mißrathene und verkommene Subjecte. Im deutschen Volke ist aber, Gott ſei Dank, die Sachlage noch ſo, daß der Schurke als Ausnahme, der Rechtschaffene aber als Regel .
