The disproportion at the Austrian universities is even worse. In the winter of 1885-86, 5721 young people studied at the University of Vienna. Of these, there were 3173 Catholics, 2085 Jews.*) — At the technical university there, one counted about 591 Catholics and 303 Jews. — Among the pupils of all 10 Gymnasien, there were 2247 Catholics and 1174 Jews. At several secondary schools, the Jewish pupils were by far in the majority. — At all 24 secondary schools (Gymnasien and Realschulen), 7708 pupils studied, of whom 4888 were Catholics, 2262 Jews and 474 Protestants.
Jews in Literature and Journalism.
The so-called "belles-lettres" and the newspaper-writing trade are flooded with Jews. Almost everyone who has a name in daily writing today is Jewish. The Jewish journalists, "poets" and "artists" form, as the witty

Hiervon waren 3173 Katholiken, 2085 Juden.*) — An der technischen Hochschule daſelbst zählte man gegen 591 Katholiken und 303 Juden. — Unter den Schülem der ſämmtlichen 10 Gymnaſien beſanden ſich 2247 Katholiken und 1174 Juden. An mehreren Mittelschulen befanden ſich die jüdischen Schüler weitaus in der Mehrheit. — An ſämmtlichen 24 Mittelschulen (Gymnaſien und Realschulen) studirten 7708 Schüler, wovon 4888 Katholiken, 2262 Juden und 474 Protestanten waren. — Juden in Litteratur und Joumalistik. Die ſogen. „schöne Litteratur“ und das Zeitungsschreiber-Fach ſind von Juden überschwemmt. Fast alles, was heute in der Tages-Schnftstellerei einen Namen hat, ist jüdisch.
