“No one may treat the Race-Principle, the Race- Question, with indifference. It is the key to world history; and only for that reason is history often so confused, because it has been written by people who did not know the Race-Question and just as little the factors belonging to it. Wherever you may encounter its effect, be it in communities or with individuals, it must be reckoned with. But on the other hand there is again no subject that requires such a fine discernment, or where this Principle, if one does not understand it thoroughly, could so easily prove to be a will-o'-the-wisp. In Europe I find three great races with pronounced characteristics — the Teutons, the Slavs, and the Celts, and their behavior is conditioned by these same distinguishing characteristics. But then there is another great race that influences the world, the Semites. — The Semites are without question a great race, for among all things in this world that seem to be true, nothing is more certain than the fact that they invented our alphabet. S. 251 u. ffg. „Niemand darf das Raſſen-Pnncip, die RaſſenFrage gleichgültig behandeln. Sie ist der Schlüſſel zur Weltgeschichte; und nur deſhalb ist die Geschichte häufig ſo konfuſ, weil ſie von Leuten geschneben worden ist, die die Raſſen-Frage nicht kannten und ebenſowenig die dazu gehörenden Momente. Wo Sie auch immer die Wirkung derſelben antreffen mögen, ſei es in Gemeinden, oder bei Individuen, es muß damit gerechnet werden. Aber auf der anderen Seite giebt es auch wieder keinen Gegenstand, der eine ſo feine Unterscheidungsgabe erfordert, oder wo dieſes Pnncip, wenn man es nicht von Grund aus versteht, ſich ſo leicht als ein Irrlicht erweiſen könnte. In Europa finde ich drei große Raſſen mit ausgesprochenen Eigenschaften — die Germanen, die Slaven und die Kelten, und ihr Verhalten wird durch eben dieſe unterscheidenden Eigenschaften bedingt. Da ist dann aber noch eine andere große Raſſe, die die Welt beeinfluſſet, die Semiten. — Die Semiten ſind ohne Frage eine große Raſſe, denn unter allen Dingen in dieſer Welt, die wahr zu ſein scheinen, ist nichts ſicherer als die Thatſache, daß ſie unſer Alphabet erfunden haben.
