Talmud Excerpt.
Although the antisemitic movement actually has nothing to do with the "religion" of the Jews, it is nevertheless important to know the worldview and philosophy of life underlying a religion, because herein the spirit of a people is best reflected.
In the Jewish religious books especially, the national spirit of this peculiar people is expressed with such candor that one may say: whoever does not know the Talmud cannot understand the essence of Judaism.
The Talmud arose from the records of the rabbis in the first centuries after Christ. It contains in its first part, the Mishna, the "reproduction" of the old Mosaic tradition; in the second part, the Gemara, the "completion" and explanation of these traditions.
The whole is called Talmud, i.e., "textbook."
The rabbis of that time were distinguished by a lack of education and stupidity, and thus the Talmud is a hodgepodge of laws, tasteless fairy tales and senseless interpretations, into which only here and

Wenngleich die antiſemitische Bewegung mit der „Religion“ der Juden eigentlich nichts zu thun hat, ſo ist es doch wichtig, die einer Religion zu Grunde liegende Welt- und Lebens-Auffaſſung zu kennen, weil hienn der Geist eines Volkes ſich am besten spiegelt. In den jüdischen Religions-Büchem speciell kommt der nationale Geist dieſes eigenartigen Volkes in einer Unverhülltheit zum Ausdruck, daß man ſagen darf: wer den Talmud nicht kennt, kann das Weſen des Judenthums nicht verstehen. Der Talmud entstand aus den Aufzeichnungen der Rabbiner in den ersten Jahrhunderten nach Chnstus. Er enthält in ſeinem ersten Theile, der Mischna, die „Wiedergabe“ der alten moſaischen Ueberlieferung; im zweiten Theile, der Gemara, die „Vervollständigung“ und Erklärung dieſer Ueberlieferungen. Das Ganze heißt Talmud d. h. „Lehrbuch.“ Die Rabbiner jener Zeit zeichneten ſich durch Unbildung und Dummheit aus, und ſo ist der Talmud ein Sammelſunum von Geſeßen, abgeschmackten Märchen und ſinnloſen Auslegungen, in die ſich nur hie und
