The "Times" of 28 August prints the following telegram from Nairobi, the capital of Uganda, signed by Lord Delamere:
"We are here strongly opposed to the introduction of alien Jews. There is here a railway 260 (English) miles in length, which is highly suitable for British colonisation. The Foreign Office is to give 200 miles of the best land to undesirable aliens; was the costly railway built for this purpose? A flood of the people named would certainly lead to disturbances with the half-tamed natives, who are jealous of their rights. A special staff would be required to control them. Is the British taxpayer, the owner of East Africa, content that this splendid and valuable country should be handed over to aliens? Were the country colonised gradually, it would assuredly be sought out most gladly by British colonial settlers. The Englishmen here appeal to public opinion, especially that of those who know this country, against the decision, which would plunge the future of this country into endless difficulties."
The Greater Actions Committee has unanimously resolved to recommend to those Zionists who are shareholders of the Jewish Colonial Bank that they place the dividend which this Bank has resolved to pay at the disposal of the Actions Committee, for the purpose of covering the costs of the El-Arish expedition and of any further expeditions to Palestine, and also the costs of the Palestine Commission.
