Final Word.
I have come to the end of my cultural-historical sketch.
Fair-minded people will forgive me for the expression of pain, which I must feel at the Judaisation of my fatherland, and will at the same time attest that I have been truthful and just, have only stated facts and have absolutely not flattered the German people at the expense of the Jewish people.
If I have offended "the Jews" by also showing them where the logic of Judaisation has led us and will yet lead us, I could not change it. The victor cannot demand that the vanquished still adulate him in the Byzantine style.
It is, after all, solely and exclusively a cultural-historical process, as it has unfolded in the "fiction" of two different peoples, that I have sketched, and I should think that this time the Jewish press might—for once—without compromising itself, treat a piece of writing that is not to its liking decently.
I know it, my friends and I are defenseless in journalism against Jewry. We have neither a princely nor a bourgeois patron supporting us, and our German people is already too Judaized to become enthusiastic about its own self-preservation.
Thus, the fact had to be admitted at last, sans phrase, that we are the vanquished, the subjugated.
I have made this admission in order to finally bring the Jewish question out of the fog of abstractions and party biases. Yes, I am convinced,
