To the concept "readiness for war" there is a completely different meaning: a vital, primary need, and its meaning is: "if a disaster occurs, such as a war, our youth must be "prepared to sacrifice their lives with such courage and in such a way, that it will bring him closer to our national goal."

And statistics show well that for most of the youth in the years 1914-1918, had this not been lacking, the history of those years would have been entirely different. From the summer of 1915 – when the "Zion Mule Corps" of Trumpeldor was established in Egypt – a great Legionist movement arose in all the Allied countries and in America. A burden of demands was poured upon all the English consulates. Create a Hebrew legion for the Land of Israel and give us the opportunity to participate on the winning side alongside the representatives of Zionism, who then wore the first uniforms with England. The action was thereby strengthened, and in the vicinity of a group of officers—their opposition to "graphic" types—was removed over time. Another matter—organizations based on "decorative" soldiers, demanding: "flags," "mantles," but not the improvement of the battalions. At the time of the beginning of the operations on the Palestine front: Summer 1916, there were already many Hebrew companies in the required place, and at the end of 1918, the Jews constituted a complete force, then perhaps also taking the place of the entire English army. And even more important: the Jews would have constituted the important part of the regiment that would have remained in the land after the victory.

All this we have lost—due to the historical-psychological state of the Hebrew youth: the fate of our people's homelands is determined today. Because our youth: one-sidedly enthusiastic, is drawn to "rhythm-witches,"

The Jewish matter that was neglected regarding knowledge of "war": the preparation for war was a thing of contempt and nationality; a cruel but also unhelpful realization, because we, the Jews, are not particularly asked about moves to fight in a war,

This, that war, which is a bad hour even for those for whom it is an accepted concept, to clarify what is the hidden seed at the root of the gentiles: there can be no wisdom in it for him.

That which was until now obscure, we Jews, and especially the Jewish youth, must learn for the next war from the "defensive war": it registers for us a resolute decision that if any war breaks out that touches upon our national renewal, we are ready to make sacrifices and achieve conditions.
